Plagiarism Policy
Economic Trends and Business Review (ETBR) is committed to ensuring the highest standards of academic integrity and upholding the principles of originality in research and publication. As part of its dedication to ethical publishing, the journal follows a strict plagiarism policy to prevent any form of plagiarism in the manuscripts submitted for publication.
1. Definition of Plagiarism:
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the following:
-
Copying the Work of Others: Directly copying text, figures, or data from another source without appropriate citation or acknowledgment.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Submitting work that has already been published elsewhere, or reusing parts of previously published content, without clear citation or indication.
-
Improper Paraphrasing: Paraphrasing someone else's work in a way that misrepresents the original idea or does not properly attribute the source.
-
Unauthorized Use of Data: Using data or results from other research without proper permission or citation.
-
Ghostwriting: Involving others in the writing of the manuscript without acknowledgment as authors.
2. Plagiarism Detection:
-
Plagiarism Checking Tools: ETBR uses plagiarism detection software to screen submitted manuscripts for potential instances of plagiarism. This helps to ensure that all content is original and properly cited.
-
Manual Checking: In addition to software, manuscripts may be manually checked for proper citations and any possible uncredited use of other works.
3. Consequences of Plagiarism:
-
Rejection of Manuscript: If plagiarism is detected before or after peer review, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be informed of the reason for rejection.
-
Retraction of Published Articles: In cases where plagiarism is identified in an article after it has been published, the journal may retract the article and issue a formal retraction notice. The authors will be notified, and the retracted article will be clearly marked.
-
Reporting to Affiliations: If plagiarism is significant, ETBR reserves the right to inform the authors’ institutional affiliations, funding bodies, or any relevant academic or professional organizations.
4. Prevention of Plagiarism:
-
Clear Citation Requirements: Authors are required to properly cite all sources of data, text, and ideas that are not their own. Proper referencing is mandatory for any content that derives from the works of others.
-
Authorship Integrity: Authors must ensure that all individuals who have contributed significantly to the research are included in the manuscript as co-authors. Any contributors who are not credited appropriately may be considered a violation of authorship guidelines.
-
Education and Awareness: Authors are encouraged to be aware of plagiarism guidelines and ensure that their work adheres to ethical writing standards.
5. Appeals Process:
-
If an author believes that they have been wrongly accused of plagiarism, they may appeal the decision by providing clear evidence of the originality of their work. The editorial board will review the case in a fair and impartial manner, ensuring that all decisions are based on facts and proper investigation.
